Returning an individual or a family to a healthier state remains the driving force behind The Council's existence. Committed to an evidence-based approach that works within the community, our dedicated staff believes in the potential of every consumer. That is the foundation of the services we provide and the secret to our success.
Youth who are severely emotionally disturbed or have been traumatized by sexual abuse or violence require special intervention. Our Child and Family Services offer clinical treatment to young people ages 4-17 and their families with the goal of helping them live full and productive lives. Our continuum of care services include: assessment, therapy, counseling and case management and residential and supportive services to strengthen individuals and families
Consumer Support Services helps to create a ‘voice' for consumers, while encouraging leadership, self-esteem and self-determination. Services include educational groups, training, workshops and community development.
Diagnostic and Behavioral Health Services oversees screening and medical assessment, adult outpatient services and case management.
Available on a 24-hour basis, Emergency Psychiatric Services operates within and in partnership with the emergency staffs of Jackson Park and St. Bernard Hospitals, providing crisis intervention, case management, psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, referrals and linkage to appropriate programs, mobile services and support to incarcerated consumers in conjunction with Cermak Hospital's Mental Health Division.
Empowerment By Design – Shoppes @ The Council provides consumers with hands-on interactive technical, living and job skills in a supportive environment designed for individual success. Shoppes include: Technology and Administration, Ceramics, Quik-Printing, Health and Grooming, Education and Literacy, Janitorial and Food Service.
Medical Services oversees the overall quality of care provided to patients and administers psychiatric medications to consumers with limited financial resources or no insurance coverage. Psychiatrists are strategically located throughout and within all of The Council's programs and services to coordinate consumer's continuum of evidence-based services.
Offering a broad range of programs, Rehabilitation Services help stabilize consumers' emotional state with the goal of reintegrating them into the community as productive members, services include: evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation, day treatment, vocational services and training, job seeking skills and employment readiness, case management, MISA and acupuncture
Research
Governed by The Council's Institutional Review Board, our Research Division conducts relevant empirical studies and publishes articles relating to behavioral health issues. Studies have examined HIV/AIDS preventions, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), sleep disorders, head injury, sexual abuse and violence, violence prevention and other topics that affect African Americans and other minorities.
Residential Services provide a full array of housing options including ACT supervised, permanent, supported and assisted living and crisis beds for urgent care patients. Designed to develop basic skills for successful independent living, services include: housing, medication management, case management, independent living, personal productivity, psychiatric services, counseling and life skills development.
Senior Connections assist adults ages 60 and older with diagnostic and supportive services. Designed to encourage independence and life enrichment, services include: assessment, case management, adult day care and respite care, home delivered meals, housekeeping, medical transportation, referral, linkage and advocacy, health screening, recreational activities and support groups.
South Side Resource Center provides a partial day respite environment for adults and families confronted with homelessness; services include meals, case management, referral, and linkage to appropriate services.
An individual's mental illness affects their entire family. Specialized Services is designed to serve consumers of third-party payers through a managed care model. To promote family healing, Specialized Services provide family members with the following evidence-based services: therapeutic intervention, psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic and psychological testing and individual, family and marital therapy.
Institute for Managerial and Clinical Consultation (IMACC)
Institute for Managerial and Clinical Consultation (IMACC) provides managerial and clinical consultation services and professional education and training.
Service Fees
Fees are assessed on the basis of community area, income and family size. Medicaid, Medicare or eligible private insurances may cover full or partial cost of services. The Council does not discriminate in admission to services. |
